With a passion for exploration and an adventurous spirit, I have traveled the past two decades photographing our planet: from her most violent storms to jaw-dropping natural scenes.
Landscape and extreme weather photography provide transient, unrepeatable combinations of light, color, and shape – many times with complex, rapidly-changing harsh and dangerous conditions – that yield an exciting challenge for high-quality, unique imagery. As a trained professional meteorologist, there is a distinct advantage to understanding the scientific intricacies of weather, how to successfully predict severe storms or the right types of clouds that may lead to vibrant sunset skies, all the while remaining safe in the face of Mother Nature's fury.
We live in a society where the joy and intrinsic value of nature seems further displaced from our minds, yet human beings have a fundamental connection to the environment. I feel a calling to see the natural world, capture it through my creative lens, and report back with meaningful stories and images. It is a privilege to share my journey, one where the destination is ever-changing, just like the weather. I hope my photography serves as a tool to inspire others to escape the routine and be present, and to appreciate and experience the beauty of our terrestrial home.
